Privacy Policy

Folda is an app that lets you share file folders by phone number, find them with a QR code, and chat inside them. Privacy is a core design decision for us. This policy explains what data we process and why, who we share it with, and how you can exercise your rights.
By using Folda you agree to the data practices described in this policy.
Data we collect
We collect only the data needed for the app to work:
- Account information: your phone number (for phone sign-in), your name, your profile photo, and your optional email address.
- Contact matching: we process the numbers in your device contacts to show you which of your contacts use Folda. Numbers are used only for matching and are never sold or shared with third parties.
- Your content: files you upload, folders and folder names you create, messages inside folders, and the QR/listing records you generate.
- Account status: your credit balance, earnings balance, and premium/corporate account status.
- Technical data: device type, app version, IP address, and crash/diagnostic logs collected for stability.
Why we process data
- To create your account and verify your identity.
- To store, share, and sync your files and folders.
- To help you find your contacts and see what is shared with you.
- To manage credits, payments, and premium features.
- To prevent abuse, ensure security, and meet legal obligations.
Who we share data with
We never sell your data. Your data is processed on our behalf only by the infrastructure providers that run the app (Google Firebase — authentication, Firestore database, file storage, cloud functions, and notifications). In addition, the people you explicitly share with (users you share a folder with by number) can see the relevant content.
Data retention
We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, your content and personal data are removed from our servers; only records we are legally or financially required to keep may be retained for a limited period.
Your rights
Under GDPR and Turkey’s KVKK you have the right to:
- Access and correct your data.
- Request deletion of your data (account deletion).
- Object to processing and receive your data in a portable format.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account and all your data at any time, either from within the app or by sending us a request. See our Account Deletion page for details.
Security
We protect your data in transit and at rest with encryption, access controls, and server-side security rules. Still, no transmission over the internet is ever 100% secure.
Children
Folda is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under that age.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. For material changes we will notify you in the app or on this page.
